The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is asking for "personnel records and any and all hiring" records of seven county employees, including Internal Auditor Ross Tate.
The Nov. 12 information request came shortly after media reports that Tate's office had determined that the Sheriff's Office violated procurement procedures when sheriff's administrators earlier this year bought a $465,000 bus to transport inmates.

Freshmen entering Charleston High School who didn't meet state testing standards in reading or math when they were middle school will have to take additional classes in those subjects.
The extra classes were part of the restructuring plan for CHS that the school board approved Wednesday.
The plan will be incorporated in the school's overall improvement plan and was needed because CHS didn't meet state testing requirements this year.

Another potentially costly lawsuit has been filed between Maricopa County's elected officials.
For the second time in less than a year, Treasurer Charles "Hos" Hoskins has sued the Board of Supervisors, now alleging that his budget has been cut so deeply that he doesn't have enough cashiers to process property-tax payments.
"This has to do with protecting myself," Hoskins said Monday.
